There’s something funny about the start of a new year. Everyone around you suddenly becomes a professional goal-setter. Gym memberships spike. Planners sell out. People talk about their “one word” like it’s a magic spell that will unlock discipline, success, and a perfectly organized pantry.
And yet, as I post this article mid-month, many of us have fallen off track.
And that’s ok, life is rarely a straight line. More often than not:
- Some years, you crush your goals.
- Some years, your goals crush you.
Luckily, I’ve put together my top life hacks for 2026 so you can succeed at life…or just pass the time for a few minutes while you read this.
So without further ado. Here are my 5 Simple Hacks for a Better 2026.
1. Take Yourself Less Seriously, and Your Purpose More Seriously 🧘
Life gets heavier the more seriously we take ourselves. The pressure to always get things right, make the perfect decision, or avoid every mistake doesn’t actually make us better; it just makes us tense.
Taking yourself less seriously looks like loosening your shoulders, laughing at the awkward stuff, and remembering you’re human. It gives you room to breathe. Taking your purpose seriously is different. It means caring about the work you do, showing up with integrity, doing good when you can, and bringing meaning to how you move through the world.
Drop the pressure. Hold onto the purpose. That combination makes everything lighter.
2. Build in a small weekly reward ☕
Work hits differently when there’s something to look forward to.
Running a business often means long days, problem-solving after hours, and thinking about work even when you’re technically “off.” That’s just part of the deal. But that’s also why it helps to build in small moments that signal: you showed up this week.
For me, that looks like a Friday Dunkin’ iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Nothing fancy. Just a simple weekly ritual that marks the end of the week and makes it feel like Friday, even if there’s still work ahead.
Those little rewards do more than boost morale. They help you:
- reset your energy
- avoid burnout
- and actually enjoy the work you’re putting in
You don’t need a big celebration or a full day off every week to make work feel rewarding (though those matter too). Sometimes it’s about building in something small to look forward to. A moment that reminds you to enjoy the process, not just push through it.
Those little rewards don’t replace rest. They support it. And they make the work along the way feel a lot more human.
3. Trust God More and Worry Less 🙏
This one goes beyond productivity and into actual peace.
There are seasons when life feels heavier. When people you care about are struggling, when responsibilities pile up, or when uncertainty seems louder than everything else. In those moments, it becomes easy to carry more than you’re meant to.
But faith shifts the weight.
Trusting God doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It means remembering you aren’t meant to fix everything on your own. It means handing over the things you can’t control. It means believing you’re not walking through life alone.
Worry drains your energy. Faith fills it back up. This is one of the most important life hacks on the list.
4. Watch for the Dog’s Verdict 🐶
There’s something special about dogs. The way they read energy, sense intention, and pick up on things people sometimes miss.
If a dog warms up to someone right away, it usually says something good about their character. If a dog hesitates or backs away, sometimes that’s worth paying attention to.
It’s a lighthearted rule, sure, but also a reminder. Stop and pay attention to the small signals. They often tell more than we realize.
5. Start the Day the Right Way 🌅
The first few minutes of the day set the tone for everything that follows.
How often do you wake up and check your phone notifications, or your work inbox, or even worse, the News? All of these put your mind into reaction mode before you even get out of bed. It invites stress before the day begins.
Starting with intention changes everything. A moment of quiet. A few deep breaths. A prayer. A thought about something good in your life. A reminder that you woke up with purpose, opportunity, and another chance to grow.
Beginning with gratitude and calm creates a foundation that the day can build on, not fight against.
A Fresh Start Doesn’t Require Perfection
If 2026 is your year to reset, you don’t need a massive plan; you just need your next step. Make it small. Make it meaningful. Make it something you’ll actually do. And if part of your reset includes improving your digital presence or simply stocking up your snack drawer, I’m always happy to support you every step of the way.
One step today beats ten ideas tomorrow.
