Web Design:

How long have you been doing this for?
Officially Thayer2Design is going on its 3rd year, but that doesn’t mean I’ve only been creating websites for that long. In fact I’ve been creating websites for over 10 years. Many of them were created for my own personal use or just because I enjoyed the process. It wasn’t until recently that I turned that passion into a career and started building websites for other people.
What do I need to start building a website?
You will need three things to get started with owning a website:

Domain Name: A domain name is what your clients, customers, visitors will type into the address bar to find you. (For example: www.Thayer2Design.com) A .com is the most commonly used domain name but it isn’t the only. Other domains can end in .net, .org, .edu, .gov, .tv, ect. It’s important to pick a domain name that people can easily remember and stands out.

Web Hosting: Your web hosting is similar to a physical store. Its a place where you will store everything (your website, files, pictures) and this is where your customers are directed to when they enter in your domain name. If you don’t already have a web hosting company, than we are happy to provide one for you and we are proud to often be lower in cost than our competition.

A Web Designer: It’s easy to choose a company like GoDaddy to quickly build a website or a company like Wix (I’m sure you’ve seen their commercials recently.) But often times these websites aren’t that great, they don’t work well with search engines, and in the end you get what you pay for. Instead you can go with a designer such as Thayer2Design who will build you exactly what you need at a price you can afford.

Do you design websites for only CNY?
– No! Yes its true that most of websites are built in CNY and we mostly do web design in Syracuse, Rome, Oneida, and surrounding areas. But that doesn’t mean we limit ourselves there. Instead we’ve created websites for businesses all throughout New York and we’ve even built sites for people located in other states. As long as we have a way to contact you such as email, phone, or skype, than there is a good chance that we can work together and design your perfect website just the way you want it.
How long does it take to build a website?
This is a great question and its impossible for me to give you an exact answer. So why am I even including this question? Because the answer actually comes from the client themselves. If you are great to communicate with than a website can be built in as little as a couple weeks. However if I need information from you for the “About Us” page and it takes you three weeks to get back to me, than that’s three weeks longer to build your website. Communication is critical from both the designer and the client and makes the process move much faster.
How many pages can my website have?
You can have as many pages as you want. Some of the main pages you’ll want to consider include: Home, About Us, Services, Contact us, and FAQ. In addition you’ll want to consider other pages that expand on what you do and help promote yourself. For example a Testimonials page or photo gallery are a great way to keep visitors on your website and get to know you better.
Can you update my current/new website?
Once your website is built we don’t leave you in the cold. We will be more than happy to update your website for you whenever you need it done. We provide two types of services. A monthly rate in which you would be charged however much work was done in that month or a yearly rate which would cover your website updates for the entire year.
What SEO is included with your web design services?
When we build a website for you we make sure that the basics are taken care of. That includes adding keywords, meta tags and other bits of information to your website so that you can get a great start out of the gate. We’ll also make sure that your site is found by companies like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. If you would like to take your SEO to the next level and get better rankings than we encourage you to ask how we can help. Thayer2Design does not promise 1st page results but we’ve done it in the past and we’ll do everything in our power to give your website that opportunity and ability.
Can I get an email account with you?
You sure can and in fact we encourage it. Having an email address with your company name behind that @ symbol is a great way to show that you’re professional in what you do.

Our Web Hosting offers a 99.9% up-time and we’re so confident in the web hosting that we offer our customers that we use the same hosting as well.

Computer Repair:

You talk a lot about Web Design, how much focus is on the PC Repair?
It’s true that Thayer2Design focuses heavily on Web Design as its main source of work throughout the area. That does not mean that our Computer Repair services are not as important. In fact it has brought great joy to know that we can help the community with their computer issues and help them get back to normal in no time. We’ve made a lot of great connections with our clients who have had a nasty virus or had a computer running too slow for their comfort. In doing so we’ve saved them both time and money and will always be here to help.
How much to remove a virus?
This can vary depending on the virus or how much damage it has done. Typically though we charge around $40 in the majority of cases and can have your computer back to working order within less than an hour.
Can you do hardware upgrades?
We do offer hardware upgrades although some can take longer than others. The majority of the hardware work we do includes memory or hard drive upgrades. We do offer some other services such as keyword and monitor replacements on laptops but it varies on the type of laptop you have.  If we feel its beyond our scope we can either return the computer to you at no charge or have it sent off at no additional cost to one of our computer partners where they will do the installation. We can also do other hardware replacements such as a motherboard but these can often be expensive for just the parts alone and if your computer is fried than sometimes its actually cheaper to spend the money on a new laptop as opposed to having use replace it for you.
Do I need to drop my PC off to you? House calls available?
We do offer house calls and its completely up to you on which you choose. If you’d like use to come to your home than we can assist you there. Or if you’d rather just drop your computer off to us than that is fine as well. For computers dropped off we can typically have the work completed on the same day or the next day. The only time it would take longer than that is if we needed to order parts.
How can you repair my computer online?
We recommend using a program called “Teamviewer” This allows us to access your computer from our office without having the computer in front of us.  This is great for when a computer is running slow or need a virus removed (depending on how pesky it is).
What are your thoughts on Windows 10?
We’re excited to hear that Microsoft is coming out with their newest version of Windows and even more excited to hear that it will be completely free to people with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.
